Andrew Luck sets new Colts single-season passing yards record
With an 80-yard completion to Reggie Wayne in the second quarter, Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck passed Peyton Manning for the most passing yards in a season in franchise history. The completion gave Luck 4,737 yards, topping the 4,700 Manning threw for in 2010.
Wayne made an incredible catch then took off running down the sideline, but he was caught from behind and ruled down at the two yard line, where he laid injured on the ground. The Colts later ruled Wayne out for the rest of the game with a groin injury. One play later, Luck threw his second score of the day.
Luck opened hot against Tennessee, hitting 8 of 12 passes for 138 yards and two touchdowns. That gave him 40 passing scores this season. Manning holds the franchise record with 49 touchdown passes in 2004.
All but assured of the No. 4 playoff seed, the Colts replaced Luck with Matt Hasselbeck to start the second half at Tennessee. Luck finished the game completing 10 of 16 throws for 160 yards and two touchdowns with no turnovers.
